La Jolla art gallery

I attended a party at a La Jolla art gallery a few years back. You don't see many dragons at these shin-digs. I guess I stood out a bit.
Halloween is creeping closer and closer.

Last Year

Approximately 3,200 people visited Maryland Street last Halloween. Across the street (next to the Wizard of Oz house), we dressed the little yellow house to look like a circus tent using a multi-colored parachute and strings of lights. Occasionally, I’d hear bursts of laughter coming from the Trick-or-treaters as they passed the psycho circus. Turns out the “mystic swami” from the circus was asking passers-by if they’d like their palm read. Any takers were treated to a performance of creepy chanting and rhythmic swaying as the swami took their hand and examined their palm. Eventually he would produce a large bingo marker and stamp their up-turned hand leaving a large red blotch. “Anyone else want their palm red?” he’d shout, pushing the person aside to roars of laughter.

Halloween in the neighborhood

Trick-or-Treat on Maryland Street has grown quite large in the last fifteen years, and I’ve discovered something in the process: Halloween is the only holiday that celebrates the neighborhood; not just friends and family, but the people that live near you. It’s a great opportunity to get to know all those wonderful people around you without the stress of a seven-hour blackout.

Halloween is looming near. I look forward to seeing all my friends in San Diego.

I'm still quite a young dragon and still growing. Last year, you may have noticed the spikes I've grown on my back. (The sign of a strong and mature dragon.) I still can't breathe fire, but it's only a matter of time.
